Andrey Remnev
Biography
Andrey Remnev (b. 1962, Yakhroma, Russia) is a graduate of the Moscow Art College and the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, whose richly layered paintings recall classical Russian iconography as well as Renaissance and Constructivist influences.
He uses a distinctive technique of mixing natural pigments with egg yolk tempera, later overlaid with oils, producing luminous, jewel-like surfaces. His images of meditative figures set against decorative, often gold-toned backdrops evoke both timeless ritual and contemporary narrative.
Remnev's works have featured in solo and group exhibitions in Moscow, The Hague and Trenton among others. His paintings are available on the international market, represented by galleries such as Dorothy Circus Gallery (London/Rome) and listed on platforms like Artsy. His pieces have also appeared at major auction houses and attract interest from private and corporate collections.
Combining an academic foundation, unique technique and strong market presence, Remnev stands out as one of the few contemporary Russian artists merging sacred tradition with modern sensibility.
